Minecraft Preview 26.40.30
Official source by Jay Wells ·

Bedrock Preview 26.40.30 mirrors Java’s camping comforts: sit on craftable cushions, and sleep once on a straw bed without moving your spawn. Craft cushions from three matching wool slabs (sixteen colors) and straw beds four-at-a-time from three hay bales. Straw beds break after use and will not survive Nether or End sleep attempts.
Known Preview caveat: cushions are not generating in Abandoned Camps yet, though they are available from the creative inventory. Straw beds do appear in those camps now, and Abandoned Camps also generate in Pale Garden and Flower Forest, with procedural trees and corrected potion loot names.
Dappled Forest fog now matches other forests, poplar leaf MERS textures and ambient sounds got polish, and opaque poplar leaf variants fix black-background rendering. Missing wool stair and slab recipes are restored, and accessibility work improves the Start screen “More options” focus indicator beyond color alone.
Stability and quality-of-life fixes span Iron Golem multi-spawns, structure double-chest crashes, seed-consistent structure loot, Arrows of Harming that no longer bounce incorrectly, and assorted UI/touch/splitscreen issues. Vibrant Visuals on Android picks up device support and rendering fixes.
Creators see stricter actor-component schemas, corrected on_kill events for melee-style behaviors, projectile bounce enums, Editor cinematic timeline tools, and Script API updates such as stable loot conditions and cloning helpers. As with any Preview, expect a staggered rollout and keep an eye on the changelog for the exact build on your platform.

Session vibe
Bedrock Preview 26.40.30 is another ‘try it on a sandbox, not your legacy Realm’ evening. Cue a steady, quiet mix, read the changelog once, then poke only the systems you care about instead of doom-scrolling every bullet. Preview builds exist to teach you what is coming — not to host the friend group’s irreplaceable base.
Player checklist
- Opt into Preview on a secondary profile or device so your stable Bedrock install stays untouched.
- Reproduce one bug or feature at a time; mixed reports are harder to trust later.
- Assume the final release will differ — jot likes and pains, then wait for the retail drop.
Listen while you play
Suggested vibe: cool blue overworld dusk pads while you poke Preview menus and test chunks.
